Meet Do Good Donuts
📍Hoboken, New Jersey 🔗 hotplate.com/dogooddonuts
In 2018, Emily was walking around Hoboken looking for a donut shop. She got to thinking, what if I learned how to do this myself?
She’d never even made a donut before, let alone run a business. Her curiosity powered her through Youtube tutorials and rounds and rounds of recipe development. She started bringing donuts into the office and even the gym where she worked as a personal trainer! When COVID hit, Emily began taking orders through Instagram and asked customers to donate to a charitable cause in lieu of paying her.
As word spread and pre-orders picked up, Emily started offering weekly delivery by bike. She figured she’d try it out for a month.
Fast forward 5 years and she’s stuck with it, delivering to over 1,200 addresses in Hoboken and Jersey City. Always powered by bike, Emily sometimes hits 15 miles round trip. If you’re in the area, subscribe to Do Good Donuts to snag a pre-order on her next drop.
Do Good Donuts pops up at cafes, markets, festivals, and remains a one-woman show, committed to doing good. Emily composts her food scraps and fry oil, recycles extras into donut bread pudding, and encourages her delivery customers to meet her at the door with Tupperware to avoid single-use packaging.
